Stop bitching & mourning about the production of this dvd, people, and fans.(!!) Portnoy has warned us about the production beforehand. "...not as good as Budokan or Score, it'll be like 5 years in a livetime". That says it all. Who cares how they look on screen? This band is about music, not about how pretty they are. Well, not for me at least.

I've been waiting for so long for Dream Theater to release another raw "day in the life" DVD like 5 Years In A Lifetime. I love the feel of the whole DVD, with songs varying from city to city, and the filming/sound really makes you feel like your part of the show. The footage in between songs (and hidden in menus) is halarious.
The documentary on the second disc is very entertaining and shows how nice the guys are. I'm very happy they included both the music videos, and in-studio footage. ... Read More

I almost think that Portnoy wanted it this way, Because if you watch Score that is one of the best DVDs/Cds i have ever heard. Some people think i am nuts, but that DVD/CD is great. Chaos In Motion - Well They obviously couldn't record wih HD Camers , because of the expense and as far as the songs & performances - I think they are average at best Except Surrounded which i think is outstanding work especially Petrucci, and i think he shines on this DVD/CD..........But like i said it is average at ... I've been a diehard fan since 1992. Score was of a lot higher quality than this DVD. James LeBrie's voice did not sound as well as it has in the past. It sounded terrible on Surrounded. Maybe they should just stick to making music, and not DVD's.

I have been listening to and tracking the development of the band since When Dream and Day Unite. Although this DVD/CD collection is good, it does not encompass the best performances by the band. Although the melody players--Rudess and Petrucci--hit all of the notes, I'm not sure they still listen to each other anymore.
