I bought mine in October of 1992 as electrical engineering student. In 16 years, it has never left my side. It is intuitive to use, intelligently designed, has lots of handy features built in and is as tough as a VW Beetle. I've dropped mine (and sat on it) more times than I can remember and it has suffered no problems whatsoever.

I have been using my TI-86 for 8 years now and it has never had any kind of problems.
I have left this calculator out in my car during the freezing Michigan Winters for weeks on end as well as the 100 degree Summers for the same amount of time. Never a single problem with the calculator.
The calculator has done almost everything I have needed of it all the way through Calculus and Linear Algebra. With that said, the TI-89 and others have much more utility for the high end ... Read More

This calculator can do anything you will need for Calc I. It might even be able to do your laundry, but I'm not much of a programmer.
